DIY Lifestyle Episode 2- Customize a Coffee Cup

A DIY Lifestyle is a podcast series that demonstrates how to do a variety of different crafts and projects that you can do yourself. You can see tutorials from refinishing furniture, sewing projects, and even how to make yard art for your home.

For this podcast, I recorded my audio in Garageband, and then imported it into iMovie along with the photos for it.

This episode is a step-by-step demonstration on how I customized a coffee cup.

Show Notes:

Supplies needed for this project:

  1. Blank coffee mug (Walmart)
  2. DecoArt glass paint marker: black- Michael’s Craft Store
  3. Oven
  4. Cookie Sheet

Process:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°
  2. Wash coffee cup
  3. Using the marker, draw or write anything you’d like on the cup
  4. When finished, place in the oven on the cookie sheet and bake for 20 minutes

Important Information:

Make sure you use the DecoArt glass paint markers, or other ones that are oil-based. A regular permanent marker will wash right off, even after baking it.

These can NOT be put in the dishwasher, but are perfectly safe to hand wash with soap and water.

If you choose to write on both sides of the cup, make sure you handle it accordingly so you don’t smear one side as you design the other.

Have fun!
